- Do you need the DATA speed or the VOICEMAIL more? As it turns out, you
- have to compromise: A fast DATA modem doesn't necessarily deliver good
- voicemail performance and vice versa. Most voice modems today deliver
- POOR sound quality (and read this newsgroup for reliability
- issues...). I've got a very good VM / FAX modem, but only 2400bps
- DATA (the NSC TYIN2000). I stick to it because I have found no
- satisfactory replacement (it's still available cheaply). Voice quality
- and reliability are VERY GOOD. Only basic features though (no faxback,
- paging, distinctive ring, etc). For DATA I bought a cheap 14.4kbps
- modem.
